dc.description.abstract | This study is conducted to investigate the common errors in English writing committed by English Language students who study at Elmergib University in Alkhoms. The participants are in the second year. They were 20 female students. The research method used in the present study was a test conducted for the participants to write a paragraph.
The data were gathered and analyzed and all errors were categorized into different categorization. The findings of the current study revealed that the participants committed several errors such as spelling, wrong use of prepositions, using singular and plural forms errors. The most frequent error type is improper use of punctuation, while the least frequent error type is a wrong word order. Lack of English writing practice, negative interference, overgeneralization and the difference between the mother tongue and the target language are the main causes of these errors. | en_US |
