Using blogs in English language teaching and teacher education programs

This paper explores the use of Blogs in ELT and English
Language Teacher Education programs. It reviews the
existing literature about using blogs in English language
teaching and learning and how it can be implemented in the
courses within the English language teacher education
programs. The paper starts by defining blogs and discussing
blogging as a new writing genre. It highlights and provides
ways to deal with the problems that might threaten students
safety and privacy, and the possible ethical misconduct and
plagiarism. The paper also shows how blogs can be used in
the English language classroom and how blogs can be used in
teacher preparation programs.
