dc.description.abstract | The main centered research problem is that domestic production of milk in Libya does not keep pace with the demand for this item, which caused in the presence of food gap in milk, but still rely on imports from abroad to cover the needs of the local dairy. Therefore research study of domestic production and consumption, as well as the food gap targeted and Self-sufficiency ratio and per capita dairy, as well as estimate the demand function imports of dairy in Libya during the study period, so as to identify and quantify the most important determinants of the quantity of imports from the dairy to Libya during the period (1990 - 2013), and search on the descriptive and quantitative analysis was adopted.

domestic production of dairy and population and gross national product respectively, as evidenced by the estimated model, the 10% rate of change in domestic production of milk will lead to a change in the the amount of dairy imports increased by 6.44% with the stability of the rest of the other factors, and the 10% rate of change in population will lead to a change in the quantity of imports of dairy by 5.64% with the stability of the rest of the other factors, as well as the change rate of 10% in gross national product will lead to a change in the quantity of imports of dairy by 0.73% with the stability of the rest of the other factors. The research also concluded a set of recommendations, the most important, the expansion of breeding cows producing milk, interest in natural pastures as the most important sources of green fodder, interest in other types of milk producing animals such as goats and camels. | en_US |
